Ladies, yes you lovely feminine Ladies! We are blessed to be born women, to be feminine, we have such power, intuition and wisdom, how lucky are we! One of our many traits as women is to be generous and give to others, we all know how good this feels. In this Life Hack I speak with an amazing Conscious Business woman Catherine van der Meulen who talks to us about the power of giving and staying feminine.
Here is a transcript of the interview x
I start by saying “I love this Goddess Life Hack, it’s really something that’s very important to me. I’ve been reading a book called The Go Giver, and it’s all about what we can give rather than that what we can take. And I wondered if you could talk to us around that”
“I think it’s a big movement that’s happening in the business sphere, and particularly with start-ups, with small businesses that are really kind of rocking the corporate space. And you see that a lot of corporates are starting to adapt because they’re so disrupted by the next generation of organisations that they kind of have to go down this path. There’s always been a sense of giving but it’s always been, oh, well, we will just make some money, and then we’ll give away 10% at the end, whereas a lot of businesses are ingraining it into absolutely, excuse me, little fly fly. They’re ingraining it into every decision that they make.
So it’s not just about, let’s make a shitload of money and then give away 10% at the end, it’s about let’s go on the journey and embed what we’re doing into all of our team member’s lives and all of our customer’s lives, and kind of creating this whole experience of giving.
Because at the end of the day, if you’ve got a workforce of two or 3,000 people, you know, some of the people might actually be within that organisation that actually need the support. It’s not just about the most underprivileged communities or shipping it off to India to give away shoes, or other product and things like that. It is also about empowering Australians with their own business, and using the business as an asset”
I responded “I totally agree, and what I found interesting, and what’s interesting in what you were saying is that in the past, it would have been let’s give to get, so that end goal was getting. Okay, so we have to give to get. But it seems to me now that there is another way of looking at it.
Let’s not think about what we can get, but start off by first of all, what we can give, and the pleasure and the joy and the success that leads from that. Have you seen that coming into play a little bit more?
” Yeah, interestingly, I just watched a clip this morning I can’t for the life of me remember his name, but it was about giving without expectation, and I think if we give, we do have that expectation. There’s always this gap of anxiety, and Brene Brown talks about it very well in The Power of Vulnerability, that if we give to expect something in return, we’re always kind of chasing, always looking for something back from that person or back from that company or back from that individual, and it leaves when they don’t deliver on that expectation, you leave dissappointed. So if we go into something not expecting to have anything returned, and just create a relationship, just give from the heart,
” Alright guys, there you have it, Goddess Life Hack Number Two, about staying feminine and finding more joy and success through giving rather than taking. And remember, we all deserve to shine, and to say to the world this is who I am. So say out to the la, see I’ve forgot my ending. Alright guys, there you have it, rockstar, oh god, you see, did it again”
